The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office has ruled homicide in the death of a Chicago man who died more than three weeks after his girlfriend allegedly doused him in gasoline and lit him on fire.
The medical examiner’s office says an autopsy performed Monday indicates 61-year-old Allan Penny died of infection and burns suffered in the July 2 fire. He died Saturday.
Officer Ron Gaines of the Chicago Police Department’s News Affairs office says 42-year-old Lisa Baywood is accused of setting Penny on fire when he refused to give her money.
Baywood, who has previously been convicted of prostitution, was charged earlier this month with attempted murder, aggravated arson, heinous battery and aggravated domestic battery.
