Chicago Strip Clubs: I’m Twittering My Friend’s Quotes From Now On

I know I’m totally robbing this idea from Sh*tMyDadSays, but now that the guy’s Twitter feed is going to become a sitcom with William Shatner, it has lost every last shred of street cred originality, coolness, and likely most of what made it funny in the first place.
(Rest assured, if “Publish This Book” is ever picked up and turned into a movie with William Shatner, I will cop to selling out.)
But I have this friend who I’m staying with for three weeks in New York, and the first day I was there, I remembered, “Oh yeah, sometimes he says the weirdest stuff I’ve ever heard.”
Which is strange because I’ve known him since we were in third grade. Rest assured, he walked into a room, and said, with no hint of humor, irony or jocularity, “You know who texted me? That Chinese girl I made out with at that strip club in Vegas.”

Chicago Strip Clubs: Mount Puckmore: The four faces of the Chicago Blackhawks

While it can’t be ignored that Wirtz was a pillar of the Original 6 and dictated a lot of ways the NHL was run for a very long time, it is he who is most responsible for the just-ended 49-year drought.
Wirtz chased away every talented player the Hawks ever had. Even Bobby Hull finished his career elsewhere. Worst, they were replaced by aging veterans who came cheap and could no longer play.  Bobby Orr had knees of blue cheese when he showed up here, and that was meant to pacify Hawks fans. Doug Gilmour played as if he just awoke from a coma.
destroyed the club for a couple years after getting in a fight at a Columbus strip club. Wendel Clark, Phil Housley and various others were brought in to run out the clock on their careers simply because that’s all that Bill would pay for.

Chicago Strip Clubs: Steger accused of killing wife in 2009 crime spree

James D. Amison, 38, of the 300 block of West 35th Street, was formally charged in Will County Court Thursday with murder in the death of his wife, Tashika Smith. He has been in Cook County Jail since the December crime spree on murder, attempted murder and attempted armed robbery charges, which occurred in Cook, authorities said. Smith was killed in the Will County portion of Steger.
Amison allegedly killed Smith after dinner on Dec. 12 because he believed she was having an affair with his father. Steger police say he strangled her while her 15- and 5-year-old daughters were in the next room. Smith’s body was discovered the next day.
Later that evening, Amison went to his father’s home in Maywood and allegedly shot the 53-year-old man in the neck, paralyzing him. Amison then went to ex-girlfriend Stephanie Reed’s South Side home, kicked in the door and fatally shot her, authorities said.
The violent spree ended around 2 a.m. Dec. 13 when Amison went to a strip club in the 12000 block of South Doty Avenue and demanded money from customers and employees before firing his gun. He was arrested soon after.

Chicago Strip Clubs: Rich Carollo is Leaving Oak Park

August 6, 2010
Rich Carollo was a hard-working guy.  He, unfortunately, is like
Ted Williams without a bat.  Take away FLW homes and Oak Park has
no tourist attraction.  As I’ve written, no golf course, 18-hole
or pee wee, batting range, forest, river, mountain, hiking, camping,
gambling, canoeing, skiing, strip clubs, waterfalls, caves, beach,
etc.  We don’t even have a bowling alley.  Since 1984 I’ve
been proposing a real tourist attraction that would bring people here
on the el and would create a demand for a hotel.  There’s a reason
no hotel chain has located here:  There’s no draw.
My restaurant park/performing arts/convention center/nightclub district
would bring people here.  FLW and Hemingway conventions would
occur annually with all the resources in a central location.
Friday nights with art gallery openings at the PAACC  would be the
attraction for singles from throughout the western suburbs.  The
restaurants would be jammed with theater-goers and those with tickets
to the theater, jazz, and eclectic music venues.  Numerous
retailers would sprout up …

Chicago Strip Clubs: Cafe creates stir with plan for topless staff

UTTER shock greeted the news that Alfie Blu’s cafe in Burnham could become a blue bar with “occasional topless staff and strippers“.
Town councillors were surprised to hear that an application has been made to the district council to vary the premises’ licence to serve alcohol, have occasional night entertainment, theatrical events and live music.
The applicant is youth worker Harris Beaumont, of Walsall in the Midlands.
The application hasn’t come directly from the cafe.
The town council scrutinised the plans and did not back them.
Town councillor Eric Gill, who is also a district councillor, said: “I am so shocked and utterly amazed such an inappropriate application can be put forward.”

Town clerk Eileen Shaw was keen to stress that topless bar staff was just part of the application.

Chicago Strip Clubs: On Repetition

Not long after my book about chess appeared and chalked up a handful of prominent, promising reviews, my editor asked me to come to New York. She bought me lunch, chatted me up. We talked about the future. She wanted me to write another book about chess. âœMaybe a chess mystery,â she said, jiggling her shoulders in what was either a fair imitation of a stripper twirling her pasties or a hopeful anticipation of the reaction readers might have to the book she proposed. I actually considered this offer for a moment. There is a true story about a famous chess player being called in to assist with a serial killer investigation. But that moment didnât last long. I realized almost at once that I would simply be repeating myself.

Chicago Strip Clubs: Shock as Burnham cafe seeks to introduce ‘occasional strippers’

Published:

as Burnham cafe seeks to introduce ‘occasional strippers
Councillors
have this week reacted with shock at plans by this Burnham-On-Sea
cafe to apply for a licence to introduce “occasional topless
bar staff and strippers.”
The surprise application emerged on Monday evening (August 2nd)
when the owners of Alfie Blu’s in Pier Street sought formal permission
from Sedgemoor District Council to change its Premises Licence
and add a bar serving alcohol along with occasional late night
entertainment, theatrical events and live music.
Councillors
considered the application at Monday’s Town Council meeting in
Jaycroft Road, where the proposals received little support.

Town
Clerk Eileen Shaw stressed at the meeting that the bid to introduce
occasional topless bar staff was just one small part of the overall
application to change the Premises Licence, which also covers
the introduction of a range of entertainment.

Chicago Strip Clubs: Pole Dancing Fun with S Factor Founder Sheila Kelley

I participated in my first pole dancing class last week.  I was invited to attend a class with actress and S Factor founder Sheila Kelley, and couldn’t refuse.   If I was going to get fit on a pole, I was going to go to one of the best instructors.  Sheila Kelley basically started the pole dancing craze. And she was only in town from L.A. for a few days.  From successful authors to celebrities like Teri Hatcher, many people quickly became followers.  Especially after Sheila appeared on Oprah.
So I went to class excited and nervous to know what it would be like.  I got to the S Factor studio in Chicago and walked in to a place that was calm, inviting and fun.  There were pictures on the wall of women performing tricks on the pole, work-out clothes and yes-even what we all like to call stripper shoes( very high platform high heels-which I was told actually help perform certain tricks on the pole).

Chicago Strip Clubs: Baseball’s Most Fervent Ghost Hunters Are Back With More Fun Folklore

The book includes dozens of never-before-revealed stories, including the first media mention ever of the former Tiger Stadium in Detroit being haunted; new interviews and anecdotes, claiming the National Baseball Hall of Fame is haunted; and the truth about whats really buried in the new Yankee Stadium, from bad-luck charms to human ashes.
The authors recorded firsthand ghost stories concerning Babe Ruth, and mystical stories from Ruths granddaughter Linda Ruth Tosetti.
They documented the latest attempts to lift the Chicago Cubs legendary Curse of the Billy Goat at Wrigley Field; the heartwarming story of a sick girls gift to a major leaguer … and the seemingly magical impact it had on both of them; what ballplayers touch in a Baltimore strip club to help cure their slump; and good luck charms from around the majors (LA Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, Chicago White Sox), including a shared good luck thong in the Yankees clubhouse, with never-before-heard side-splitting observations and insights from players.

Chicago Strip Clubs: I brought my mom to Boystown and…

Boystown is very obviously a gay ghetto (ghetto being used to describe a self-segregated community here, not to describe quality of living.) In addition to the normal facets of life that you find everywhere, Boystown also has gay bars, strip clubs, sex shops. Did the presence of these things affect you in any way?
If you mean, did they make me uncomfortable, the answer is no, not at all. Actually, I didn’t notice the strip clubs (hmm), and the sex shop window displays were interesting, not vulgar. We have made our way to a number of the bars, oh yes we have:), and at each and every one I have been greeted with warmth and friendship and made to feel included.  Oh so many life lessons are there to be learned in the Boystown community about affection and acceptance…
